One of our singers, Eliza Leahy, is a very talented artist
in addition to all other kinds of talents she has like
web design and wood turning. Her art has just been
chosen for the covers of Modofly artist books.

Taste of Harmony: Pao de Queijo Recipe
Note from Jane re requested recipe:
Hello everyone,
Many thanks for participating in Taste of Harmony week
by bringing such delicious treats. Here is the recipe for
the Brazilian Little Cheese Breads.
Pao de Queijo
Here is the originalrecipe, from Brazil:
http://tinyurl.com/bsrv6l
And here is what I do since we can't get the kind of
sour-ish Brazilian cheese here in Aussieland as far as I know:
This is a food processor recipe.
Heat oven to 200*C
Lightly spray or brush a mini muffin pan with oil.
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup vegie oil
1 egg
1 cup Tapioca flour (Asian food store)
70 g strong cheddar cheese, more or less to taste, suitably
shredded for your food processor
1/2 teaspoon salt
Process all together until smooth.
Pour batter into mini muffin tins about 3/4 way full.
Sprinkle with fleur de sel (flaky salt) and a little chopped rosemary.
Bake for about 20 minutes at 200*C. Upturn immediately onto a rack.

New member of Morningsong Choir
From Jane (Singing Leader):
"We have a new member, Joshua, who is blind and currently
attending with a care worker. He is being encouraged to
become more independent, and is searching for a way to get
from the Morningside train station on Friday mornings
to choir and back again after coffee/lunch at the end.
I would like someone who can organise a roster system
of transport and it would be good if about 5-6 people can
take turns to help with transport. We will discuss this
after the break next session but this is just a heads
up to think about."
Ron's comment:
Joshua's love of music and sheer enjoyment of the choir
is infectious. We are very lucky to have him as he is
a great contributor who is very amiable and loves to
sing. A very warm welcome, Joshua - we will all be the
richer for your participation.

Morningsong - upcoming events - Relaxation Centre and Taste of Harmony
Hello singers -
Firstly, a warm welcome to the new singers who
have come in the last couple of weeks. It's very
daunting to come into a group all of whom look
as if they know each other so thank you for your
bravery.
Here is some info which I clean forgot to tell you
about last session.
This Friday Feb. 20 is photo day for the website and
Eliza Leahy will take a shot of us on the steps at
11.30 to 11.35 am. There are about 45 singers
who turn up regularly (though not on the same day)
and we need 10+ to make us look half way respectable.
If you are camera shy I fully understand. By the
time your picture is on a website it's pretty tiny - it's
just the overall affect that Eliza is looking for.
Websites: This first site is about the Taste of Harmony
event coming up. We are signed up to participate.
http://www.tasteofharmony.org.au.
Second site is a recommendation from a choir member.
Ron says that Chris's workshops are really worth
attending.
http://www.chrisjames.net/
Third is about the singing workshop coming up on
Sunday 15 March at the Relaxation Centre.
You can go for $10 (instead of $35)as a group booking
(not available for that price at the door) if you pay by
Friday Feb 27 at the latest. 100% refunds by
March 6 if we don't get 6+.
http://www.relaxationcentreqld.com.au/
Fourth is a link to Mal Lloyd's midi file for the song
Amen Siakudumisa. (with thanks) if you'd like help
with your part.
http://members.optusnet.com.au/milloyd/Mals%20files/siakudumisa_parts.mp3
Thanks everyone and I look forward to seeing you on
Friday.

Somagwaza and Mingulay Boat song on YouTube
Hi Singers
A couple of YouTube video additions:
This is Somagwaza again only with a step by step
process with Pete Seeger years ago. There is a
pause in the middle of the video where you think
nothing happens but just keep it running:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icelp2eYkO4
This is the Mingulay Boat song which we may do
in a couple of weeks:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgkGrm5516k&feature=PlayList&p=097DB1367CD933D9&playnext=1&index=19

YouTube videos for Morningsong - 11 February 2009
Hi Singers
Here are some videos (YouTube) of things I have in
mind to do - if some are just women's choirs it's just
because that's the best rendition I could find on the
internet. It's the overall sound which counts.
This is the Yale slavic choir singing the one we will learn -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0OIGWRKsc0&feature=channel_page
This one is Kwaheri which we will be doing in
the future:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJKszZ9OHBI&feature=channel_page
This one is Rise up O flame which we visit again:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RmLKC3TH-0&feature=channel
Somagwaza which we will do without animal sounds
thank you!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUL7HYH0xEU
I'll email you again when I have some more on the list.
Great to have you when you can come. There is also
a second choir in the works for the evening coming up
which will be doing the same stuff as Morningsong ,
so that may give you another opportunity to sing.
All best,
Jane

Parking for Morningsong - 21 January 2009
Hi Singers -
Apologies for the parking probs, especially with the dramatic
increase in numbers of singers. The best places are on
Lytton Road just up the hill from the hall, in the street
outside the library (steep hill), in some of the side streets
or behind the Coffee Club in the large 2 hour lot if you
arrive late.
On January 30, I invite all of you to bring a sandwich
and stay on for lunch in the hall (very low key - we don't
have access to kitchen) and get to meet the other
singers if you like.
Coffee : for those meeting up for coffee after the
sessions, the restaurant called Get Hooked has offered
cofffee for $3 if you mention that you come from the choir.
Their fish lunch specials are great, by the way.
Looking forward to seeing you - the sound of all of your
voices is just beautiful.
